celebrate National Banana Split Day

Did you know that Baskin-Robbins has created over 1,400 flavors since 1945? While we continue to innovate and come up with tasty new scoops and products to keep our loyal guests happy, there are some menu items that have been staples since the very beginning. Our classic Banana Split has been on the menu since Baskin-Robbins first opened its doors, and to celebrate National Banana Split Day, we wanted to give you the inside scoop on how we craft this go-to sundae staple, the Baskin-Robbins way.

Step 1: Start with a wide base banana boat dish to fit all of the deliciousness in.

Step 2: Slice a banana lengthwise and place on either long side of the banana boat dish.

Step 3: Add three scoops of whichever flavors you desire into the boat, between the two bananas. For a true classic Banana Split sundae, use a scoop of Vanilla, Chocolate and Very Berry Strawberry.

Step 4: Add toppings including marshmallow, pineapple and chocolate syrup. (You have the option to customize with any toppings you like!)

Step 5: Squeeze three dollops of real whipped cream onto the top of each scoop of ice cream.

Step 6: Top with a cherry on each scoop.

Step 7: Add the final touch of 2 teaspoons of chopped almonds.

Step 8: Enjoy!

While a classic Banana Split can’t be beat, its popularity led us to make it into its own special flavor. In 2015, we featured Banana Split ice cream on the menu for a limited time which consisted of banana-flavored ice cream with chocolatey cherry pieces and almonds, swirled with pineapple pieces, and strawberry and hot fudge ribbons.
