“I look forward to continuing my mission for Swiss football,” said Blanc, who took the helm as president two years ago. He was also positive about the immediate future after the Swiss government’s decision to further relax restrictions brought about by the Covid pandemic.

“Finally, we can see light at the end of the tunnel,” he said. “Football is good for health, for social cohesion and for morale, because it brings real joy to all those who play it, serve it and follow it.” Blanc is a former president of the regional association in the western Swiss canton of Vaud, and has also served as president of the Swiss Amateur League.

At the assembly, the Swiss FA board presented its new strategy for the 2021-25 period, which aims to ensure that Swiss football, as an important part of society, is innovative and enjoys sustainable success. In its football, association and club development, the SFV/ASF focuses on values such as passion, tolerance, motivation and solidarity.

On the field, the Swiss national team is a regular participant in major international tournaments, and is preparing for the forthcoming UEFA EURO 2020 finals.

In strategic development areas, the association highlights, among other things, the promotion of elite young talent in men's and women's football. “Our goals are high. Our ambition is great. The best conditions to become even better and stronger in the future,” said Blanc.
