Dr. Randeep Guleria, Director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), has advised against

 repeat CT scans in moderate COVID-19 cases. It has side effects, according to Dr. Guleria, which can do more harm than gain.

People are getting CT scans as soon as they find out they are COVID-19 positive, he said, adding that

 misuse of CT scans and biomarkers could cause damage.


According to the AIIMS president, a CT scan is likely to reveal patches that go away on their own without

 care in both moderate and asymptomatic scenarios. When people are hospitalised, CT scans should be

 performed in mild circumstances, he said, adding that if they have any doubts, they can get a chest x-ray.
