RockyTHON Dance Marathon is back

RockyTHON is a student-led organization

MACOMB, IL – The pandemic has changed so much for so many, including Western Illinois University's RockyTHON (Dance Marathon), which was held as a virtual event in Spring 2020. This year, the RockyTHON is back … in a scaled back RockyTHON Live format Saturday, March 27.

This year, the event will be held, with limited participants, from noon to 6 p.m., with live streaming taking place on Dance Marathon's YouTube channel. The event will culminate in a drive-in reveal of the year's fundraising total in the Knoblauch parking lot at 6:30 p.m.

RockyTHON is a student-led organization that raises money and awareness for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. In a "typical" year, events are held year-round to raise funds, with the event culminating in a 12-hour RockyThon, which honors the 12-hour shifts of doctors and nurses, as well as children who are unable to stand.

Western's RockyTHON is entering its eighth year on the WIU campus. Donations are welcome, and may be made by visiting the WIU RockyThon website or emailing RockyTHON@wiu.edu. Due to the pandemic, the Spring 2020 event was live streamed and raised $83,000. That pushed Western's seven-year total for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals to nearly $700,000.
