Read on for how sending a card to an elderly person has proved a hit with our students, and other ways we’re supporting those who are in need or feeling lonely this Christmas.

Just a card to say…

Hundreds of students have sent Christmas cards to elderly residents of local care homes, as part of a new initiative for this year.

We’re hoping, into next year, this will help nurture long-term links between our Colleges and particular care homes.

Lijie, a Philosophy and Politics student from north-east China, said she wanted to take part to ‘put a smile on people’s faces’.

Other ways we’re helping out…

Elsewhere, students created a winter wonderland for local families supported by the charity Beyond Limits.

And staff are getting into the spirit too, by helping the charity Feeding Families sort Christmas food donations.

Both staff and students are supporting the charities Children North East and REfUSE community caf√© through our annual Christmas Wish Tree project.

Merry Christmas to all

We know this year and the Covid-19 pandemic has brought really tough times for many people. We’re pleased to be able to help out, and we wish everyone a very happy Christmas.
