Scott Hansen passed away

 MACOMB, IL – Scott Hansen, an associate professor in the Western Illinois University Department of Management and Marketing, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 31. He was 62. A celebration of life was held in Georgia Sept. 4.


"The Western Illinois University community mourns Scott's passing. We extend our most sincere condolences to Scott's family, friends and co-workers," said Western Illinois University President Guiyou Huang.

Hansen joined the Department of Marketing and Finance as an associate professor in 2006. He specialized in buyer/seller relations, industrial complaint behaviors and consumer behaviors. Hansen also served as the adviser to the WIU Marketing Club. Prior to joining the WIU faculty, he was an assistant professor at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. He also had taught at Fort Hays University and University of Texas, Tyler.

"Scott was always focused on serving the best interest of our students," said WIU College of Business and Technology Dean and Former Management and Marketing Department Chair Craig Conrad. "He was dedicated and I am saddened by his passing."

Hansen earned his Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University, and his master's and bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University.

He is survived by his children, Austin and Amber; one brother and one sister.
